Motorist Killed After Hitting Power Pole Was From Sebastopol

The accident was near Occidental. [Breaking]

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – A 38-year-old Sebastopol man died when his truck struck a wooden power pole near Occidental in Sonoma County this morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash on Occidental Road just east of Jovine Road happened around 8:20 a.m., CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

Driving at an unsafe speed and damp road conditions are believed to be the cause of the crash, Sloat said.

The truck sheared off the power pole. The driver was the only person in the vehicle, according to Sloat.

A black lab puppy also in the truck was uninjured and turned over to animal control.
