Santa Rosa Stabbing Victim Identified; Suspect Arrested
The victim, Howard Quick Jr., 55, is being mourned as "a generous, loving person." A 21-year-old suspect has been arrested.

SANTA ROSA, CA — Police arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the stabbing death of a 55-year-old man, identified as Howard Quick Jr., inside his Santa Rosa home.
Carlos Martinez-Carceres of Santa Rosa was arrested on suspicion of killing Quick at his home in the 1000 block of Jennings Avenue near the Coddingtown Mall, police said Saturday. Police said there were signs consistent with a struggle inside the home.
Quick was found dead inside his home, where police also found marijuana plants in the yard. Police haven't said if the killing may have been connected to the drug.

On a GoFundMe page raising money for Quick's funeral expenses, organizer Ben Handelman said Quick had a commitment to the arts, adopted pets and did volunteer work during the 2017 fires in Santa Rosa.
"Howard always strove to make direct contributions to the things that made his world a better place," Handelman wrote.

Quick was "a generous, loving person, who made his friends feel like royalty and taught them about appreciating life and the people who surrounded us," Handelman wrote.
The page had raised nearly $10,000 as of Monday afternoon.
Martinez-Carceres was arrested on Delport Avenue in the Roseland area of Santa Rosa on Saturday. He is scheduled to be arraigned for the homicide Tuesday afternoon in Sonoma County Superior Court.
