Several Fires Break Out Along U.S. Highway 101 Near Windsor
California Highway Patrol reported numerous fires burning along southbound 101 near Shiloh Road, north of Santa Rosa.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Firefighters rushed to respond as numerous vegetation fires broke out during Wednesday evening's commute along U.S. Highway 101 north of Santa Rosa near central Windsor, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP dispatchers started fielding reports at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday about the brush fires. The first callers reported flames along the right shoulder of southbound U.S. 101 in the area of Shiloh Road.
Flames and heavy smoke were also reported near Conde Lane at Bell Road.

One caller stated wooden guardrails and trees were in flames, while a fire official reported counting as many as seven spot fires.
Sonoma County Fire Protection District was among agencies with crews dispatched to the scene.

Some motorists pulled off the road and were reportedly pouring water bottles on flames.
As of 6 p.m., the southbound slow lane was shut down south of the central Windsor exit, according to the CHP.
At around 7 p.m., CHP reported the smoky conditions were clearing up as the fires appeared to be under control.
