UPDATE: Healdsburg Animal Shelter to Volunteer at Sunset Magazine's 'Idea House'

Tours start Aug. 3 from Sonoma County Park and Ride.

has been chosen as recipient of a charitable donation from for participating in the built in Healdsburg.

"The Shelter is looking for volunteers to help staff the home during the public tours," said Jamie Winters, volunteer manager.

Sunset Magazine chose the built by Blu Homes in Vallejo, as its 2012 "Idea House" and

Tour dates are Fridays through Sundays starting Aug. 3 through Sept. 9, with two volunteer shifts available per day, Winters said.

"Morning volunteer shift is 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and an afternoon shift will be 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., she said. Training will be provided.

Visitors will be coming to the house via shuttle bus from the Sonoma County Park & Ride lot, opposite at 25 Grant Ave. (at Healdsburg Avenue).

The shuttle buses will leave on the hour starting at 10 a.m., with the last shuttle i set for 4 p.m.

DIRECTIONS:

The Sonoma County Park and Ride lot, which is unmarked, is just off exit #502 of Highway 101. A sign there says "Grant Avenue Industrial Center."

Coming northbound on 101, exit at "Healdsburg Avenue," take a right on Healdsburg Avenue, and go a short distance and take a right on Grant Avenue. Take an immediate right into the park and ride lot.

Coming southbound on 101, exit at "Old Redwood Highway," take left onto Healdsburg Avenue, right onto Grant Avenue, and immediate right into the park and ride lot.

Hours are Friday-Sunday 10 a.m.-5p.m., $17 per person, $15 for seniors on Fridays and children under 12 are free.
