  1. On Friday, Sonoma County District Attorney Jill Ravitch announced that Target Corporation has will pay $5.3 million to settle a civil law enforcement complaint that alleged the company had engaged in "false advertising and unfair competition." Target reportedly cooperated during the investigation by The Sonoma County Department of Agriculture / Weights and Measures Division, which monitors retailers to ensure that consumers are paying the lowest advertised price for items. A judgment in the case now prohibits Target from charging more than the lowest price posted for an item and requires the corporation to clearly state on its app or website where a customer can obtain the item at the advertised price. According to the District Attorney's announcement, Target has since instituted "new policies and procedures to improve pricing accuracy" in its California stores. (Press Release Desk)
  2. After a February fire at Healdsburg's SingleThread restaurant, owners Kyle and Katina Connaughton have put reservations on hold through at least this month. However, on Mar. 31, the Connaughtons will host "a night of culinary collaboration" with Junghyun “JP” and Ellia Park of the two-Michelin starred Atomix, featuring a 10-course Asian-influenced tasting menu. In the meantime, Healdsburg residents can experience the farm at home with a SingleThread Farm Box, available for pick-up at the restaurant on Thursday, Mar. 17, according to the restaurant's Facebook. 3. On Saturday, Mar. 26 at 2:00 p.m., the Healdsburg Museum and Historical Society will host a Traditional Native Food Festival to celebrate the cuisine of the local Pomo tribes. The menu will be prepared by tribe members and includes dishes like peppernut balls, black oak acorn mush, manzanita cider, and manzanita flower tea. This free community event is part of the Museum's exhibit, "From Diggers Bend to River Rock, Dry Creek Rancheria People and History." (Healdsburg Patch)
