The Ortiz 'Whiz Kids'
These dynamo siblings have what it takes to become Patch's Whiz Kids of the Week.
This week on Patch, we are featuring not one, but three worthy kids for Patch’s Whiz Kids. These three siblings are very active in the Healdsburg community and are hard to miss with their bubbly personalities and high energy.
Dalton Ortiz is the youngest and at 8 years old, he has an imagination bigger than he is. Dalton likes school, especially PE. He also is part of a big buddies program, which pairs sixth graders with a younger student.
After playing tennis on the Wii, Dalton was eager to try it on his own and has started playing real tennis with his dad. Dalton, always in search of another adventure, hopes to be an invisible ninja someday and if that doesn’t work out, he’d like to be on a SWAT team.

Madelin is a fantastic big sister to Dalton and occasionally melts into a fit of giggles at Dalton’s funny ideas. Madelin wants to be a doctor when she grows up or part of the FBI because she likes to investigate clues.

As the oldest at 13, Carter Ortiz takes his responsibilities for his brother and sister seriously. He too likes PE and loves learning about American History, in particular World War I and the Lewis & Clark Expedition.
He just finished basketball season and plays baseball in the junior baseball league for the Texas Rangers. Carter is also actively involved in Boy Scouts and is working on moving up from Star Scout to Life Scout. When he grows up, Carter wants to be a professional athlete and would love to play every sport possible.
These three kids are so much fun that there is rarely a dull moment around the house. Their infectious energy and laughter can brighten just about anyone’s day. Thanks, Ortiz kids for being a part of the Healdsburg community!
