Two Months Behind Bars For Sonoma Co. Boys and Girls Club Embezzler

The 37 year old also received three years probation for helping herself to the club's cash flow.

A former employee of the Boys and Girls Club of Sonoma County was sentenced to 60 days in Sonoma County Jail today for embezzling $8,000 from the nonprofit agency.

Robyn Cabrera, 37, of Santa Rosa, pleaded no contest to one felony count of embezzlement and also received three years’ probation as part of a negotiated settlement, Sonoma County District Attorney Jill Ravitch said.

Cabrera worked for the Boys and Girls Club between 2005-2014, most recently as director of finance and human resources, Ravitch said. She had unlimited access to business credit card and Pay Pal accounts and was in charge of the club’s cash flow.

Months after she resigned, a bookkeeper began an internal investigation of past transactions and account balances, Ravitch said. The investigation disclosed suspicious money transfers and purchases made to and from the Boys and Girls Club accounts to which only Cabrera had access, Ravitch said.

The total of the missing funds was $8,000, and Cabrera has paid $8,205.90 in restitution, Ravitch said.
