WATCH: Helicopter Crew Rescues Teens Stuck Off Sonoma Coast
Four teenagers became stranded on a rock when the tide rolled in, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office says.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A Sonoma County sheriff's helicopter crew rescued four teen boys Saturday when the group became stranded on rocks in the water off the northern Sonoma County coastline. Sheriff's officials said the boys had climbed out on Bedford Rock near the Sonoma/Mendocino county line earlier in the day to go fishing but as time passed and the evening tide rolled in, they realized they could not get back to safety without having to get into the water.
The sheriff's Henry-1 crew was contacted about the boys' predicament at 6:40 p.m. by personnel with Cal Fire Mendocino County.
The Henry-1 crew arrived on scene after a 17-minute flight from the Sonoma County airport.
