The Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, September 21st at 12:00 PM to officially welcome The Laundry Basket, located at 145 E. Stetson Avenue in Hemet, as its newest member.
Owners, Ruben and Jennifer Avila took over this property in February 2018 when it had a 2.5-star reputation and a history of loitering and drug activity in the area. Today, The Laundry Basket runs at 99% machine uptime, is monitored by 12 security cameras (Officers have also told us we have the best security cameras in the area too), and offers large-capacity, cash-and-token washers and dryers for everyday loads, bedding, and bulky items. We're also proud to give back: proceeds from our on-site vending machine have helped sponsor three children in impoverished countries for nearly 10 years.&nbsp;Keeping local residents employed matters to us too. Over the years we've hired seniors, people with criminal records looking for a fresh start, and young people landing their first job — giving our neighbors a chance to work close to home.

The Laundry Hamper, a coin laundromat in San Jacinto, will celebrate its ribbon cutting ceremony as the newest member of the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, September 22nd at 12:00 PM, at 1481 S. San Jacinto Avenue, San Jacinto, CA.Owners Ruben and Jennifer Avila, who also own <a href="https://thelaundrybaskethemet.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The Laundry Basket</a> in nearby Hemet, took over the San Jacinto laundromat in late 2025. The location has served the community as a laundromat since 2008, and the Avila's kept on a longtime employee who already knew many of the regulars.In April 2026, they completed a full renovation — new washers and dryers, new flooring, new security cameras, and fresh paint — working with local vendors, including a local contractor and crew, and a local flooring company. To serve working families on late shifts, they also extended hours to midnight on Sundays and Mondays.That new camera system hasn't gone unnoticed: the San Jacinto Sheriff's Department has called it the best in the city, giving neighbors extra peace of mind while they wash.The goal is always to have 100% of machines running at all times — if something breaks, it's fixed fast, in-house, with no waiting on an outside repair company.
