Ribbon Cutting: The Laundry Basket Joins the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Chamber of Commerce

The Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, September 21st at 12:00 PM to officially welcome The Laundry Basket, located at 145 E. Stetson Avenue in Hemet, as its newest member.

Owners, Ruben and Jennifer Avila took over this property in February 2018 when it had a 2.5-star reputation and a history of loitering and drug activity in the area. Since then, they've replaced every washer and dryer with newer, made-in-USA equipment, added full air conditioning, built up to a 4.6-star rating on Google, and kept an attendant on-site at all times. 

Hemet Police Department officers have personally praised us for turning the property into a safe, welcoming space, and in 2021 presented us with a plaque in appreciation of our support for local officers — you can see the photos on the Hemet Police Department Facebook page.

Today, The Laundry Basket runs at 99% machine uptime, is monitored by 12 security cameras (Officers have also told us we have the best security cameras in the area too), and offers large-capacity, cash-and-token washers and dryers for everyday loads, bedding, and bulky items.

We're also proud to give back: proceeds from our on-site vending machine have helped sponsor three children in impoverished countries for nearly 10 years. Keeping local residents employed matters to us too. Over the years we've hired seniors, people with criminal records looking for a fresh start, and young people landing their first job — giving our neighbors a chance to work close to home.
