Implementation of this project allows the City to examine the various traffic calming and bicycle enhancements proposed in the Bicycle Master Plan and the Safe Routes to School Program along this corridor. The potential solutions identified in these plans include intersection crossing markings, bicycle detection at signals, curb extensions, high visibility crosswalks, traffic circles, increased landscaping, and additional street markings.
"Many View School students choose to walk, bike, or scooter their way in and out each day, which inevitably puts them onto Prospect," notes Sylvia Gluck, View School Principal currently on temporary assignment as Valley School Principal while Principal Rockwell is on maternity leave. "it's great to see the city taking a close look at the safety of everyone living in the area, coming to the school, or just passing by." Gluck will sit on a community stakeholder group developed for this effort.
