Updated: Metallic Balloon Knocks Out Power to Thousands in South Bay
A transformer problem caused a power outage affecting Southern California Edison customers in three cities.

Power has been restored to Southern California Edison customers in Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach, according to Redondo Beach police.
An SCE spokesman says the outage was caused by a metallic balloon caught in power lines around 8:40 p.m. There were 2,230 customers and traffic lights affected, the spokesman said.
