Small Quake Rattles Hermosa Residents

A 3.6-magnitude earthquake centered near the coast of Hermosa Beach rattled the South Bay early Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake hit at 2:17 a.m. and was followed by three small aftershocks. There were no reports of damage or injury.

Immediately after the temblors, many Hermosa residents turned to the popular social media application Twitter. 

@jeffcohn tweeted: "Loud 3.5 earthquake in Hermosa Beach at 2:17 a.m. Kids asleep still." 

@dvuong12, a local student, tweeted: "supposedly 3.6 earthquake hit Hermosa Beach. I didnt feel a thing but I wish I did [because] I need [to] wake up n' study."

@RKCovington used Twitter to describe the earthquake as a "nice little jolt."

@Rachel_Worth tweeted: "Just had a 3.6 earthquake near Hermosa Beach. Felt it here in Torrance as one small jolt and one bigger jolt. No swaying with this one."

Later in the morning, @yayponies tweeted: "I thought I dreamed/imagined this." And @terraprima, a Santa Monica resident, tweeted: "I felt it, and my dogs felt it, too. Even the little ones rattle me."
