‘Swatting Call’ Prompts Shelter-In-Place In Hermosa Beach: Police Say

Officers responded to a call of shots fired, according to police.

HERMOSA BEACH, CA — A “swatting” call in Hermosa Beach prompted officials to issue a shelter-in-place in Hermosa Beach on Friday, police say.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 100 block of Palm Drive just after 4 p.m. and issued a shelter in place, the Hermos Beach Police Department said.

However, officers soon determined “the incident was a ‘swatting’ call,” according to police.

No one was injured, and the shelter-in-place was lifted, police said.

“We want to thank our neighboring agencies with helping to keep our community safe,” police said. “As a reminder, if you see or hear anything suspicious, please call the police department.”
