Police Shoot Man Outside Hollywood Nightclub

Officers shot a man who allegedly drew a gun and advanced on a trio of men with whom he had argued.

A Nevada man was shot by Los Angeles police in the Hollywood nightclub district after the bar closing time today, and needed emergency surgery as a result.

Tegan James Stephens, 33, of Las Vegas, was reported to have stable life signs at a hospital at midday.

LAPD officers said they were on foot patrol near Hollywood Boulevard at Cherokee Avenue at 2:10 a.m. when they spotted a man, later identified as Stephens, argue with a group of men.

As the officers watched, Stephens reportedly went to the rear of a white SUV that was parked in the parking lot and removed a handgun from the rear of the vehicle, according to an LAPD report.

“The officers saw Stephens began to follow the three males as they were walking away, at which point an officer-involved shooting occurred,” according to the statement.

No officers were injured.

Paramedics rushed Stephens to an area hospital, where he exhibited stable life conditions. He was later booked for suspicion of exhibiting a firearm in the presence of a police officer, according to the report.
