• Imperial County Data Center Committee to Hold First Meeting September 17 (imperialcounty.org) — Imperial County's new Data Center Committee is holding its very first public meeting tonight at 6 p.m. at the Public Health Training Center in El Centro, with limited first-come seating. Members will be sworn in, choose officers, set future meetings, and hear brief public comments as they begin shaping how the county approaches data center issues affecting Imperial and nearby communities.
   

• Sturgeon Electric California Restores Power After Severe Storms (constructionowners.com) — Power customers served by Imperial Irrigation District in Imperial and Coachella valleys saw major storm damage repaired after August 2025 storms knocked out electricity to about 8,000 accounts. Sturgeon Electric California crews rebuilt 150 transmission poles over nearly two months, working long shifts under tough conditions while maintaining a perfect safety record to restore and strengthen the grid for local residents and businesses.
   

• Imperial Valley utility adopts new pricing rules, putting data centers first for power cuts (kpbs.org) — Imperial Valley's Imperial Irrigation District has adopted new pricing rules that let it cut power first to big users like data centers during demand spikes, while making them pay for costly grid upgrades. With a proposed data center in the city of Imperial that could exceed the county's 2024 power use, local leaders, residents, and environmental groups are battling over how to protect existing ratepayers, water supplies, and air quality.
