Donor Poised To Give Multimillion-Dollar Donation To USD
The funds are earmarked for girls and minorities in "STEM" studies.

A multimillion-dollar gift to boost the interest of girls and minorities in so-called “STEM’’ fields of study and careers is set to be announced by the University of San Diego tomorrow.
The money comes from a national foundation bearing the name of a world-renowned computer pioneer, according to USD officials, who will identify the foundation, and the exact amount of the donation, at a 10 a.m. campus news
conference.
The funding will help advance a national initiative to inspire and prepare more young people -- especially girls and those in underserved communities -- for careers in science, technology, engineering and math, according to USD.
