Dr. Seuss Comes to IB Elementary for 'Read Across America'

The elementary school celebrated the day by having Dr. Seuss books read to them by well known members of the community.

Students at Imperial Beach Elementary School had books read to them by various members of the community including the Imperial Beach Fire Department, Mayor Jim Janney, members of the Armed Services recruiting office, Congressional candidate Denise Ducheny and former educators.

The national day to celebrate and encourage reading was organized locally in part by Parent Teachers Association volunteers.

Earlier in the week students had a Dr. Seuss door decorating contest. Winners got to eat green eggs and ham for lunch Friday.

Today would have been Ted "Dr. Seuss" Geisel's 108th birthday.
