Groovy Van, Man

Josue Merigo and Howard Woodward spent months painting artists and cultural symbols from the 1960s on a VW van you can find in front of the Beach Club Grille or around town.

Mellow Yellow. Flower Power. The Beatles. Vietnam. Neil Armstrong.

On a van with a "IB HIPPY" license plate that can sometimes be seen around town or found outside the Beach Club Grille, there are more than 100 cultural symbols and musicians from the 1960s.

Among icons remembered on the VW include Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Cesar Chavez and on the back the Beatles in their Sergeant Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band get ups.
