Imperial Beach Celebrates National Night Out Tuesday

IMPERIAL BEACH, CA – Community members and law enforcement officers across the country, county and city of Imperial Beach, will celebrate National Night Out Tuesday night. The annual event promotes community-police partnerships, crime prevention and neighborhood camaraderie.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is inviting the public to a dozen different events around the county.

In Imperial Beach, community members will have a chance to meet the sheriff's deputies who patrol the local neighborhoods, learn about the department's services, get crime prevention tips and participate in family-friendly activities. The event takes place from 5-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1 at the South Bay Recreation Center, located at 1885 Coronado Ave. in San Diego.

Created in 1984, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Last year, more than 37.8 million people and 16,124 communities across the United States, Canada, U.S. territories and military bases participated in the event.
