Man Fatally Struck By Car While Crossing South Bay Street

A 62-year-old man was struck and killed by a car while he was crossing a San Ysidro street, police said Tuesday.

SAN YSIDRO, CA – A 62-year-old man was struck and killed by a car while he was crossing a San Ysidro street, police said Tuesday.

It happened shortly before 9:25 p.m. Monday in the 3600 block of Beyer Boulevard, near Del Sur Boulevard, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.

The man was crossing Beyer Boulevard northbound on foot when a 19-year- old man driving a 2000 Ford Mustang westbound on Beyer Boulevard struck the victim, Buttle said.

The victim, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene, Buttle said.

The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with officers, Buttle said.

Alcohol or drugs were not believed to be factors in the collision, Buttle said. It was being investigated by traffic officers.
