Man Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter In South Bay Bar Shooting

Gonzalez pleaded guilty to killing 54-year-old Willie Clark Jr. on the day his trial was to begin.

CHULA VISTA, CA – A man who fatally shot another man during a fight at a South Bay bar more than two years ago pleaded guilty Wednesday to voluntary manslaughter and assault with a semi-automatic gun on a second victim.

Guillermo Gonzalez Nunez, 44, will be sentenced to 18 years in state prison at a hearing Oct. 11 at the courthouse in Chula Vista.

While responding to the shooting at the La Vuelta bar at 768 Hollister St., San Diego police detectives learned that another man had been pistol- whipped and other patrons were assaulted during the fight.

Gonzalez was eventually identified as a suspect in the shooting. He was arrested in Mexico and returned to the United States about two months later.
