Mar Vista girls water polo team beat Olympian High School 17-6 in their final game of the season Wednesday.

The team went 14-13-1 overall but 8-0 in league play to win the South Bay league championship.

"Last year I had a better star player but this year we had a better team all working together, and it worked out really well for us," said head coach Chad Kavanagh.

After the game seniors were given roses, and the team worked together to throw Kavanagh in the pool.

Eight of the team's 20 players will graduate this year.
