Monday Wave Check

Worth getting wet today.

Waking up with the waves on Monday, I’m Surf Junkie Jeff with your Imperial Beach Patch surf report.  Well, if you happen to have the day off and you don’t feel like dealing with the large crowds at the shopping malls...then go grab a surf session.

We’re seeing a decent dose of energy along this stretch of coast. The conditions are starting off pretty clean with a mixture of mainly fading northwest swell and some smaller south southwest energy in the water.

That recipe is offering some fast sectiony lines, with some good corners to pick off. Most spots in Imperial Beach are seeing knee- to chest-high waves with the focal points pulling some shoulder high sets.

Taking a look at the tides—at 9:30 this morning the tide pushed way up to a 6.4 high, which will have many spots pretty swamped mid-morning. The tide then drains out to a negative 1.2 low at 4:45 this afternoon.

If you’re planning on paddling, throw on a 4/3 fullsuit and maybe the booties with the water temperature averaging at most spots between 57 and 59 degrees.  Have at it
