One Memory

I made it sound like it was only a distraction

But that was what I thought

“It was never more then a smile,

A wink and your blue eyes”

That’s what I wanted to believe

I’ve loved before

A deeper love, a surer love

But I always had my feet on the ground

The earth didn’t shake and make me afraid

Wanting to run and not look back

But wanting so much

I can’t see us as permanent

But it’s enough for one memory

I think

It doesn’t have to be violins and candles

Or  sex

Just one moment that can be only ours

I know now the consequences will be

When it’s over, it’s over

But the memory will still be there

I think it was.
