Photo Gallery: Mar Vista Boys Water Polo

The Varsity Mariners are off to a tough 1-6 start, Head Coach Chad Kavanagh said, but there is still time to turn things around.

Mar Vista's Varsity water polo team lost in a game against University City High School Tuesday evening in Imperial Beach, but the season is far from over.

There are more than a dozen games left and two months to go before playoff action begins.

The Mariners finished 10-14 overall last year with a 6-2 record and a third place finish in League. Head coach Chad Kavanagh, who has been coaching the team for eight years, said this is the biggest roster he has ever had.

There are 38 players on the team, including 14 returners.
