Realtors group announce San Diego mayoral endorsement

The Pacific Southwest Association of REALTORS® (PSAR), a 2,000-member trade group for San Diego-area realtors, has announced its endorsement of San Diego City Councilman Kevin Faulconer in the San Diego mayoral race.

“We look beyond party affiliation and examine how candidates share in our members’ commitment to affordable housing, safe neighborhoods, job creation and in growing our economy to provide opportunities for all,” said Bob Olivieri, 2014 PSAR president. “We believe Kevin Faulconer is qualified and possesses leadership skills and a clear vision so that a greater number of San Diegans can excel in their careers and participate in the American dream of home ownership.”

Faulconer said, “I am deeply appreciative of and honored by the endorsement from PSAR, whose members see diverse neighborhood issues up close and personal every day. I look forward to working together with everyone on reforms that focus on neighborhood services and make a better San Diego.”

The election on Feb. 11 matches Faulconer, a Republican, and Councilman David Alvarez, a Democrat.

Founded in 1928, PSAR offers educational training, advocacy and other services and resources to its realtor members. In 2012, PSAR became one of the state’s largest realtors associations with a merger of the El Cajon-based East San Diego County Association of Realtors, and the Chula Vista-based Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors.
