Tutor Pleads Guilty to Statutory Rape of Mar Vista High School Student
BREAKING: Alejandro Rodriguez entered the plea Monday, after previously pleading not guilty to sexual relations with the 16-year-old boy.

IMPERIAL BEACH, CA — A 20-year-old tutor at Mar Vista High School pleaded guilty Monday to a felony charge of statutory rape for having sex with an underage male student.
Alejandro Rodriguez faces up to three years in custody and possible registration as a sex offender when he is sentenced Oct. 11.
The sex between Rodriguez and the 16-year-old boy took place in February of this year, according to the criminal complaint.

Two other men who worked at the Imperial Beach school, Edward Aaron Mendoza and Martin Albert Gallegos, were also charged in separate cases with having sex with students.

Mendoza, a former football coach, pleaded guilty to having sex with a 13- year-old girl and is awaiting sentencing next month.
Gallegos, a former ROTC instructor at Mar Vista, is accused of having sex with a 12th-grade female student on multiple occasions.
