The City of La Quinta will host its annual Hunter Lopez Lightsaber Vigil on Wednesday, August 26, inviting the community to honor the life of U.S. Marine Cpl. Hunter Lopez and his fellow service members who lost their lives during the 2021 Kabul Airport attacks.
A beloved Coachella Valley resident and devoted Star Wars fan, Hunter Lopez is remembered each year through a community lightsaber vigil to honor and remember the sacrifices made by America’s military heroes. Mayor Linda Evans, members of La Quinta's City Council and community leaders will be in attendance.&nbsp;
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lightsabers to honor Hunter Lopez, and his parents have invited the community to bring photos of loved ones who served in the military or as first responders to honor them as well.

Every project is one of a kind, making this the perfect opportunity to explore fused glass in a relaxed, creative setting. Whether you're planning a date night, gathering with friends, or simply looking for a new artistic experience,&nbsp;Saturday Night Fuse,&nbsp;is a colorful way to unwind while giving beautiful glass remnants a second life.
Workshop fee includes instruction and one clear glass base (maximum size 7" × 7"). If inspiration strikes, you're welcome to create additional projects during the workshop for an additional fee.

Experience the complete stained glass process as you create a charming three-dimensional glass cactus displayed in a decorative clay pot. This hands-on workshop is perfect for beginners who want to learn every step of the copper foil (Tiffany) technique.
Starting with a pattern, you'll select your glass colors and learn how to transfer the design to glass, cut, grind, apply copper foil, and solder your project together. Once assembled, you'll mount your cactus on a metal rod and finish it in a clay pot with decorative stones. Along the way, you'll explore the history of the copper foil method, learn how colored glass is made, and review essential studio safety practices.
No prior experience is required, and all materials are included. You'll leave with a finished stained glass cactus and a solid foundation in the fundamental skills needed for future stained glass projects.
