Buzzz-A-Thon: Razing Hair to Raise Money (Video)
Patrons take advantage of reduced-price cuts at local salon to support St. Francis High and a memorial scholarship.
Bruce K. Smith, who owns the La Cañada hair salon of the same name, wanted to do something to commemorate a family friend who died.
And with football season approaching, and Smith's family members having attended , he created Saturday's Buzzz-A-Thon, in which haircuts were reduced in price and proceeds benefitted two good causes: the at Holy Family School, which supports an eighth grader from in South Pasadena to attend , and the athletic program at St. Francis. Evans, of San Marino, planned to attend Sacred Heart, but died unexpectely in June.
