Flood Advisory For Orange County, Thursday

A line of thunderstorms was headed into Orange County, leading to this flood advisory. Do not drive through flooded streets, the NWS says.

Heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms have brought on a flood advisory, the National Weather Service said. The flood advisory will be in effect until 2:15 p.m. Thursday, they said.

The National Weather Service doppler radar detected a line of heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms moving towards Orange County at approximately 11:30 a.m.

"This will likely cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area from noon to 2 p.m.," they said.

Rainfall rates of 0.25 to 0.50 inches are expected.

Thunderstorms could produce up to 0.75 inches in one hour in the storm that will move into northwest San Diego County by noon.

Some locations that will likely experience flooding include:

  • Anaheim
  • Santa Ana
  • Irvine
  • Huntington Beach
  • Garden Grove
  • Orange

Remember, turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads, they said, with the reminder that most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
