Laguna Beach-Area Roadwork Planned Starting Monday, Oct. 5 (patch.com) — Drivers who rely on State Route 133 into Laguna Beach should prepare for overnight lane closures starting Monday, Oct. 5, as Caltrans begins a roughly 60-working-day pavement and electrical improvement project. The #2 lane between the SR-73 overpass and Laguna Lakes Trail will close during late-night hours on weekdays, with electronic signs and posted instructions guiding traffic through the work zone.
   

2. Laguna Bluebelt, San Juan Capistrano Equestrian Center honored at OC Coastkeeper's 'Toast of the Coast' (ocregister.com) — Laguna Beach's Bluebelt Coalition has been honored by OC Coastkeeper for nearly two decades of work protecting the city's Marine Protected Area, which covers 70 percent of the local coastline. Their efforts include a popular underwater photo contest and monitoring programs at Aliso Beach and Treasure Island that track wildlife, runoff, and berm impacts, directly shaping how Laguna's shoreline is cared for.
   

3. Lowest diesel gas price in Orange County hits $7.19 for week ending Sept. 19 (southoctimes.com) — Drivers in Laguna Beach are facing some of the highest diesel prices in recent memory, with local stations reporting around $8.39 per gallon as Orange County's average hit $8.13. A GasBuddy survey shows diesel available at just over half of county stations, with prices varying widely from city to city. Global oil tensions, refinery issues, and seasonal demand are all feeding into the spike.
   

4. Football roundup: San Clemente, Rancho Alamitos, Anaheim earn wins in Week 5 (fresnobee.com) — Laguna Beach High's football team picked up a big 21-7 road win over San Pedro, powered by three touchdown passes from quarterback Jack Hurst and a pair of interceptions from the Breakers' defense. The team, now 2-3, opens Delta League play against Troy at Fullerton High on Thursday, Oct. 1. Several other Orange County schools, including San Clemente and Anaheim, also notched important victories.
   

5. CA Restaurant Named 'Best Of The Best' Fine Dining In The Nation (patch.com) — Laguna Beach's oceanfront Splashes Restaurant has been named one of Tripadvisor's "Best of the Best" fine-dining spots in the entire country, the only California restaurant to make the list. Reviewers praised its coastal views, fresh local seafood, and relaxed but polished service, making it a notable point of pride and a special-occasion option for local diners.
