• Waves Pound Laguna Beach Coastline Sunday: Photos (patch.com) — Powerful high surf and tides are battering Main Beach and Aliso Beach in Laguna Beach, drawing crowds of onlookers while lifeguards and city crews work to protect the shoreline. Waves are reaching the boardwalk, intermittently closing the Aliso Beach parking lot, and follow recent flooding that shut Coast Highway and other key streets, with conditions expected to persist for up to two weeks.
   

• Palos Verdes Girls Varsity Volleyball vs. Laguna Beach (maxpreps.com) — Laguna Beach High School's girls volleyball team fell 2-0 on the road to Palos Verdes, dropping the Breakers to a 14-14 season record. Next, Laguna Beach travels to St. Margaret's in San Juan Capistrano on Tuesday, October 13, facing a strong Tartans squad that recently swept Portola.
