Tip A Cop Raises Over $20,000 In Laguna Beach
The Laguna Beach Police Department announced that they raised well over $20,000 toward local Special Olympics Athletes.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — The Laguna Beach "Tip A Cop" event raised well over $20,000 over the weekend as residents, friends and fans of the Laguna Beach Police Department joined to support the Special Olympics at Ruby's Diner.
Police in uniform waited tables, chatted up attendees and gathered tips that totaled upwards of $21,562, according to Laguna Beach Police Department Officer Jim Cota.
During the event, "officers serve as celebrity waiters at restaurants, and they donate all the tips they receive to Special Olympics,:" according to the Special Olympics. The Tip-A-Cop event is a "favorite"way for officers to raise money, "and the public loves to have the officers wait on them hand and foot," that organization has said.

Those who dropped by got to meet K-9 officers, meet local athletes and see police vehicles and exotic cars. Kids and adults enjoyed the face painting.
Funds raised will go toward the Special Olympics.
