Dana Point Drummer Dies, One Arrested In Anaheim

A Dana Point drummer was found dead near a recording studio, and now one man was arrested in connection with the crime.

DANA POINT, CA — A Dana Point drummer and father of two was found beaten to death in an Anaheim cul-de-sac this week, police said. On Friday, a 34-year-old man was arrested in connection with the homicide.

Arthur Williams, of Santa Ana, was taken into custody at an area hospital Wednesday afternoon, according to Anaheim Police Sgt. Daron Wyatt. Williams was "an acquaintance of the victim, 48-year-old David Patrick McCabe." It is not known why he was at the hospital. Thus far, there was no motive released for the homicide.

Mike McGarvey, owner of rehearsal space Doll Hut Studios near where McCabe’s body was discovered, told the OC Register that McCabe played drums for a punk rock band, Knightenders. He had practiced at the studio for a couple of years, the Register reported.

Williams, charged with murder, is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana.

Officers dispatched at 2:55 a.m. Saturday to the 1500 block of West Center Street by a passerby discovered McCabe, of Dana Point, suffering from "injuries consistent with blunt force trauma," Anaheim Police Sgt. Daron Wyatt said.

Police said McCabe's car was stolen after the killing, and it still has not been recovered. Detectives urged anyone who sees the car -- a gray 2013 Toyota Corolla four-door sedan with California plate 6YSH330 -- to contact police.
