Even Men Can Look Pretty in Pink

Retired Laguna Niguel businessman is named a "Pink Tie Guy" for his role in the fight against breast cancer.

Who said men don't look good in pink?

Retired Laguna Niguel businessman Lawrence Pasternack was recently named a "Pink Tie Guy" for 2011 by the Orange County affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Pasternack was honored for his support of Komen O.C. and his dedication to spreading the Komen mission to his community.

A Pink Tie Guy is a title given annually to influential men in the area who are selected to advocate for the organization’s mission and breast cancer awareness in the business community.

Pasternack, baseball Hall of Famer Rod Carew and former U.S. Ambassador to Spain George Argyros were among those chosen by the Orange County affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to serve as the newest class of Pink Tie Guys at this year’s Pink Tie Ball.

“I am incredibly honored to be named a Komen Orange County Pink Tie Guy. I take the title seriously and am committed to educating the business community, friends and family on breast health and the Komen mission. I aim to do my part in the fight to end breast cancer forever,” he said.

Each of the Pink Tie Guy is a prominent person in Orange County asked to bring awareness of breast cancer to the forefront of the business world. The Komen Orange County affiliate was one of two to be recognized earlier this year at the annual Susan G. Komen Leadership Conference, receiving a Spirit of Innovation Award for its Pink Tie Guy initiative.

Pasternack sold his business seven years ago to spend more time with his family and support charitable causes. The philanthropist donates his time and resources to numerous organizations, including his children’s school, Mission Hospital and the Komen Orange County affiliate.

He believes early diagnosis is a critical element of breast health and is committed to spreading Komen’s message of early detection and helping to provide access to mammograms for all women.
