Man, 85, Arrested For Hit-And-Run That Killed 23-Year-Old On Ortega Highway: Police

The man was killed on Ortega Highway when he was hit by a vehicle early Monday morning, police said.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — A man was arrested for a hit-and-run crash that left a 23-year-old dead on Ortega Highway, authorities said.

Orange County deputies were flagged down to an injured man in the roadway near La Novia Avenue — a short distance from the Interstate 5 Freeway and St. Margaret's Episcopal School — at around 12:30 a.m. Monday, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The man died at the scene, and the driver sped off soon after the crash, deputies said.

The man was identified as 23-year-old Cesar Amilcar Zuniga Ruiz, from Los Angeles.

Soon after, 85-year-old Anthony Konstantine Kalomas, of San Juan Capistrano, was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail for hit-and-run charges.
