Mariners 936 Sea Scouts Score Again!

Dana Point's Mariners 936 Sea scout ship score high at Southwestern Rendezvous!

Sea Scouts from near and far gathered together last weekend for three days of fun, friendship, and fierce competition hosted by Camp Pendleton last weekend, in an event that has been held since 1935!

Two full days of events tested the Scouts maritime skills and leadership abilities. Activities challenged all participants both mentally and physically; events included Knot Tying, Uniform Inspection, Sailing, Swimming, Marlinspike Skills, Drill, Mariners Quiz, ,and Scuttlebutt ! The competition involved over 18 different events all of which saw Mariners 936 in the top 3!

Boatswain’s team, this year led by Kyle Baldovin, scored highly in most events and was awarded the prestigious Windjammer trophy, the most sought after award of the weekend. Mariner team H, led by Rachel Hunter, completed scuttlebutt with the fastest time and was awarded the prized Scuttle-off trophy!

Mariners 936 is based out of Dana Point Harbor and offers an abundance of opportunity to sail, cruise, compete, and learn maritime skills in a fun and friendly co-ed group for youth 14-18 years old.
