A number of California schools ranked high in WalletHub's 2018 College & University Rankings report. Do you agree with the rankings?

California schools are often included on best colleges lists, so it's no surprise to see schools from the Golden State landing on a new list of America's top colleges and universities.

A total of 11 California schools landed in the top 50 of WalletHub's 2018 College & University Rankings report, with two universities ranking among the top five higher-education institutions in the country.

Stanford University came in fourth place and California Institute of Technology rounded out the top five colleges and universities across the country, according to the report. Massachusetts Institute of Technology claimed the top spot, followed by Princeton University in second and Harvard University in third place.

The study compared nearly 1,000 colleges and universities and measured them across seven key categories: student selectivity, cost and financing, faculty resources, campus safety, campus experience, educational outcomes and career outcomes.

Out of 973 colleges and universities, Stanford University came in first for admission rate and post-attendance median salary; fifth for gender and racial diversity; 10th for student-faculty ratio; 12th for graduation rate; 20th for on-campus crime; and 48th for net cost.

California Institute of Technology came in first for student-faculty ratio; second for admission rate; third for post-attendance median salary; fifth for graduation rate; 43rd for gender and racial diversity; 54th for net cost and 60th for on-campus crime.
