The United States Tennis Association’s (USTA) March Into Tennis is a brand-new drive through March which, at no cost, introduces kids 10 and under to a sport that carries the benefits of physical fitness, mental sharpness through greater focus and concentration, social activity, and learning a sport that can be played for a lifetime. The USTA offers free Tuesday Kids Clinics on every Tuesday in March from 4-5 p.m. at Balboa Tennis Club (2221 Morley Field Dr., San Diego, CA). Beginning Jan. 1, the USTA implemented new measures towards making tennis more fun and player-friendly for kids 10 and under by introducing smaller tennis courts, as well as smaller rackets and bigger tennis balls with which to play. Throughout the month, a record 1,200 USTA youth tennis events will take place across the country as a variety of local clubs, after-school programs, parks and recreation centers and Community Tennis Associations will host Youth Registration Events, Play Days and launch Kids’ Tennis Clubs.
