1 Dead, 1 Hospitalized In Lake Elsinore Rainy Day Wreck
The Thursday crash is under investigation.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — One person was killed and another hospitalized in a Thursday morning crash in Lake Elsinore, the fire department reports. The crash happened around 9:15 a.m. at Riverside Drive and Gunnerson Street, according to Riverside County Fire Department Spokeswoman April Newman.
"The first arriving engine company reported a two vehicle traffic collision with one victim trapped," Newman said.

A total of nine firefighters responded to the scene to help the victims, but one of the victims died at the location, according to Newman.
"The second patient was transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital with serious injuries," she said.

As a result of the crash, Riverside Drive/Hwy 74 was closed to traffic between Collier and Gunnerson, according to city officials. That closure was expected to last between four and six hours.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is investigating the deadly crash.
