1 Dead In Old Elsinore Road Crash After 'Quick U-Turn': CHP

CHP officials say a man died after he made a sudden U-turn in front of another driver in the Perris area.

PERRIS, CA — One person died and another was hospitalized in a weekend crash in the Perris area, officials report. The crash happened Saturday on Old Elsinore Road.

According to CHP Officer Dan Olivas, a 54-year-old Arizona man was headed south on the roadway in his 2001 Honda. A 37-year-old Perris man was just behind him, in a Nissan pickup truck.

"The driver of the Honda slowed, pulled to the right side of the roadway and then made a quick U-turn, directly into the Nissan’s path of travel," Olivas said in a news release. "The driver of the Nissan swerved to the left to avoid the Honda but was unable to and collided with the left side of the Honda."
