2 People Killed In Elsinore Fire Identified

Coroner's officials on Wednesday publicly identified the two victims.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — The two people who died as a home went up in flames in Lake Elsinore this week have been publicly identified by the Riverside County coroner's office. Reports indicate the two were mother and son.

Both Luz Heredia, 66, and Daniel Heredia, 34, were found dead inside the home on Massachusetts Street on Monday morning, according to coroner's and fire officials.

The fire was first reported at 6:10 a.m., fire officials said. Coroner's officials recorded the man and woman's time of death as 6:40 a.m.

According to the Press Enterprise, Luz Heredia lived at the home with her cognitively impaired son. The two were described by friends as "kind" and "happy," but they were known to have a lot of clutter inside the house.

Officials say the cause of the deadly blaze is still under investigation, but a neighbor told the PE that he was told a heater may have sparked the fire.
