2 Suspected Burglars Arrested In Lake Elsinore

The alleged burglary took place at state Route 74 near Trellis Lane.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A man suspected in a Sunday morning burglary in Lake Elsinore was released from custody but a woman who was arrested with him remains jailed.

Shawn Hughes, 28, and Mary Nunez, 26, were taken into custody after deputies received a 6:54 a.m. call about a burglary in process on state Route 74 near Trellis Lane, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

"Deputies arrived and arrested two suspects with stolen items in their possession," the department said.

Hughes was released Sunday on $35,000 bail after being booked on suspicion of first-degree burglary, conspiracy, and taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, jail records show. He is due in court in January.

Nunez remains in custody at Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of first-degree burglary, conspiracy, taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, possession of a stolen vehicle, smuggling a controlled substance into jail, and possession of a controlled substance. Her bail has been set at $50,000 and she is due in court Wednesday.
