4 Drivers Arrested, 15 Cited, During Wildomar DUI Checkpoint

WILDOMAR, CA — A DUI checkpoint held over the weekend in Wildomar netted four arrests and 15 citations, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced Monday.

The checkpoint, staffed by deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station, was held from 8 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday at Palomar Street and Harwood Lane.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes, according to the sheriff's department.

A total of 637 vehicles were screened during the weekend event. Of the 15 citations, six were handed to unlicensed drivers and two to drivers operating a vehicle on a suspended license, the sheriff's department reported.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
