40 Traffic Tickets Issued Over 6-Hour Period In Wildomar

WILDOMAR, CA — Motorists who were speeding or running stop signs Wednesday in Wildomar may be paying a financial price.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced that deputies from its Lake Elsinore Station were out in force, from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, targeting unsafe drivers in Wildomar.

The "Traffic Enforcement Saturation" patrol focused on excessive speed and stop sign violations, according to the sheriff's department.

During the six-hour period, deputies made 44 vehicle stops and cited 40 drivers for various traffic violations, the department said.

The operation was an effort to prevent crashes and save lives, officials said.

"So far in 2020, deputies have investigated 75 traffic collisions in the city of Wildomar, 23 injury collisions and one collision resulting in a fatality. The traffic saturation patrol targeted unsafe drivers to help prevent and reduce the number of traffic collisions within the city of Wildomar," the department stated."

More operations are planned later in the year, according to the sheriff's department.

Funding for the Saturation Patrol was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
