Military Convoy Blocks Traffic On 91 Freeway

At least two freeway lanes near the RivCo and Orange County border were closed to traffic by the unusual display of military vehicles.

CORONA, CA — A military convoy believed to have left from Twentynine Palms was stopped in the two right lanes on the westbound Riverside (91) Freeway at Weir Canyon Road, near the Orange County border.

Since Monday evening, buses carrying Marines from Twentynine Palms to Los Angeles, along with armored vehicles, have been spotted along Southern California freeways.

The Pentagon has informed the media that the troops are “trained in de-escalation and the rules of the use of force. They are headed toward Los Angeles, but their final destination was not publicly revealed.

The troops are Marines of the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, who have been ordered to support the protection of federal buildings in the greater Los Angeles area by Secretary of Defense Pete Hesgeth, according to ABC News.

It's unclear where the convoy is headed, but traffic is backed up to at least Serfas Club Drive, Tuesday, midday.

Commuters were advised to expect delays due to the unusual sight of military vehicles on the Southern California freeway.
