Candy Fire Near Lake Mathews Burns More Than 200 Acres
There were no evacuations ordered, and no immediate reports of any structure damage.

LAKE MATHEWS, CA — A brush fire that broke out Tuesday northeast of Lake Elsinore scorched more than 200 acres and was 95 percent contained by early Wednesday morning, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
Dubbed the Candy Fire, the blaze was first reported at 1:32 p.m. near the intersection of Gavilan Road and Lake Mathews, the agency reported.
As of 4:10 p.m. Monday, the forward rate of spread on the blaze was halted at 227 acres, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The fire was visible from Interstate 15.
In the initial stages of the firefight, an air and ground attack was underway, with 150 firefighters assigned to the blaze.
