Coroner IDs Motorcyclist Killed In Lakeland Village Crash

LAKELAND VILLAGE, CA — A motorcyclist killed in a Lakeland Village crash on Tuesday has been identified as a local man.

Timothy Collins, 52, of Lakeland Village died at the scene near 15996 Grand Avenue, approx. 100 feet south of Ethlene Drive, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau.

The crash was reported at 4:13 p.m.

A California Highway Patrol collision report showed Collins was riding a Suzuki northbound on Grand Avenue at approximately 45 mph when a Toyota Camry pulled out of Lake Country Plaza Shopping Center and attempted to cross the road over to Weekend Paradise RV Park on the west side of the street.

Collins had the right of way, and could not stop in time. His motorcycle broadsided the right side of the Camry, and he was ejected from his bike. He was wearing a helmet, according to the CHP report.

The father and husband was pronounced dead at 4:33 p.m.

The 67-year-old Camry driver from Lakeland Village cooperated with the investigation. He was uninjured and not arrested, but the CHP report indicated he may face charges once the crash investigation is complete.

Drugs and/or alcohol are not suspected as crash factors, according to the CHP report.
