Embezzlement Investigation Leads To Woman's Arrest: Lake Elsinore

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A fraud and embezzlement investigation led to the arrest Tuesday of woman in Lake Elsinore, the sheriff's department reported.

Nicole Begley, 43, was taken into custody by Temecula deputies at 9 a.m. on Acacia Street, and was booked into Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of grand theft, embezzlement, check forgery, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of counterfeit items, jail records showed.

During a search warrant service at the Acacia Street residence, several "evidence items were seized," according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

"Begley is a bookkeeper and is alleged to have embezzled between $10,000 and $20,000 from her previous employer," the sheriff's department said.

Begley was released from jail Tuesday on $50,000 bail and is due in court Dec. 22, the jail records showed.
